Phillips healthcare Services Ltd has a governance structure that ensures accountability. It has a board of directors who set the company policies which guide implementation of the various projects that it manages. The Chairman of the board of directors is the Group Managing Director. The profile of the leadership team is as outlined below;

Mr. Mukesh .S. Mehta

Mr. Mukesh is the Group Managing Director and the Chairman of board of directors of PHSL. He is a visionary leader with over 35 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Through his leadership the Phillips Pharmaceuticals group has grown tremendously to become a leading importer of Pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and surgical products representing over 40 principals across 7 countries in Africa. Through his guidance, the PHSL management team has been able to establish and strengthen   procurement and supply chain services for donor funded projects offering services such as  forecasting & quantification, procurement, warehousing, inventory Management, order processing and distribution.

Mr. Shailesh. R.  Mehta

Mr. Shailesh is the group finance director and a member of the board of directors of Phillips Healthcare Services Ltd. He has a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in developing and managing financial management systems and structures within the group. Through his leadership and guidance, PHSL has established accountable and transparent financial management systems and structures that are highly responsive to business operations requirements and are also able to meet donor reporting requirements.

Dr. Grace.W. Waiharo

Dr. Grace Waiharo is the Head of Operations and the Company Pharmacist. She oversees the entire PHSL operations and reports to the Board of Directors. She is a qualified pharmacist with training in business administration. She has extensive experience working with the ART programs in Africa as part of the AIDS Relief team for about 5 years and currently as the project key personnel for the multiyear multi dollar Kenya Pharma project.

She has been responsible for the supply chain management of the ART commodities and has offered consultancy services to the USAID funded Food by Prescription Project implemented by CRS Zambia. Her recommendations helped the project improve on its supply chain performance and significantly improved relations with the donors.

Through her leadership, PHSL has successfully developed several proposals for provision of supply chain management  services and is currently the contracted supply chain provider for the multi-year  multi-dollar PEPFAR funded USAID|Kenya Pharma Project managed by Chemonics International Inc, USAID Nutrition and HIV program (USAID/NHP) managed by  FHI 360 (formerly Academy for Educational Development), Clinton Health Access initiatives (UNITAID/CHAI)  pediatric and second line ART medicines among others.

Mrs  Janet .A. Handa

Mrs. Janet Handa is a  pharmaceutical supply chain and procurement professional with 10  years of experience in the private pharmaceutical sector. She heads the Procurement services and business development department. She is well-versed in pharmaceutical supply chain management, order planning, and procurement. She also has strong experience in  distribution of  HIV/AIDS treatment medication, ARV drugs to treatment sites in Kenya, and coordinating health initiatives through east and west Sub-Saharan Africa for PEPFAR funded USAID projects. She also provided assessment procurement strategies and quality assurance of generic antiretroviral drugs and quality control with WHO labs. Janet has a solid understanding of international donor requirements, having coordinated private sector HIV/AIDS programs for donors and also conducted HIV/AIDS awareness programs and medical education seminars. She brings a wealth of experience and is a valued member  of the management team.

 Dr. Lilian Balusi

Dr. Lilian Balusi is a qualified pharmacist and  Manager – Operations and Technical Services. This position is tasked with supervising the operations at GAMI focusing mainly on antiretrovirals, medicines for opportunistic infections as well as other pharmaceuticals. She oversees warehousing, inventory and order management teams.  There is very close collaboration between the Operations and Technical services and the Quality Management Systems &development departments   since Joyce undertakes initial staff training then hands them over to Lilian for follow up on implementation on the ground and to monitor progress. Lilian also identifies knowledge gaps and collaborates with Joyce on identification and development of appropriate refresher training as necessary. This position is also responsible for coaching and on job mentorship of the warehouse team to hone supervisory skills in line with continuous staff development to ensure availability of a continuous supply of highly skilled and responsible workforce.

Dr. Joyce Nduati

Dr. Joyce Nduati is the Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance Manager. She is also the Quality Management representative. She is responsible for the overall regulatory affairs and quality assurance portfolio of all medicines and medical devices distributed under PHSL. She ensures adherence to the regulatory framework for the company as well as compliance to applicable regulations and product registration requirements by the Pharmacy and poisons board. She is also tasked with spearheading the company’s pharmacovigillance activities as well as adverse drug monitoring and reporting. As the QMR, Dr. Nduati is responsible for maintenance of the PHSL’s quality management system including development, implementation and monitoring of departmental quality objectives, coordinating internal and external audits and self inspections as well as management review meetings,  periodic review of Quality objectives, Quality manual and  SOPs. She is also responsible for ensuring the PHSL’s operations are compliant with good distribution practices guidelines as outlines both in the EU GDP and Kenyan GDP.

She has a wealth of experience in assuring patient safety and quality having worked in the hospital environment for over 15 years  most of which she served in a senior capacity in the pharmacy department and was Operations Manager for the Aga Khan hospital Pharmacy for more than 2 years. She was also a member of the team tasked with quality improvement in the hospital that worked towards the JCI accreditation for the hospital.

 Mrs. Betty Mukolwe

Mrs. Betty Mukolwe is Manager – Customer Care & Projects.Enhanced communication and reliability are some of the key components of any good relationship including good customer service. PHSL strives to be reliable and highly responsive to our customers’ needs. This position is responsible for cultivating an organizational culture that ensures excellent response to our customer enquiries and that all promises made to our customers are fulfilled expeditiously. This position also provides a focused approach to customer care and projects management within PHSL. Mrs.Betty brings a wealth of experience in customer care both from her earlier engagements as well as her previous experience within PHSL over the last three years.

Mr. Ngari Muruiki

Mr. Ngari Muruiki is the PHSL Administration manager. He coordinates the PHSL administration activities necessary for the realization of efficient, effective and smooth operations. PHSL collaborates with the group head office for most of administration and HR/Personnel services that are managed centrally. Mr.Ngari Muruiki is also the liaison person for PHSL with the group administration, HR/personnel and transport departments.
